JD from LA (lots of abbrevs)

JD is quiet, but he has the sweetest smile and most perfect way of saying things. Everything sounds nostalgic when he says it. His favorite movie is the Godfather. His favorite band is Led Zeplin...no wait...THE BEATLES. He also wants the single ladies to see his incredible impersonations.

He is a Virgo on the cusp of Libra. He says Virgos don't like to eat much, and they like to workout. He likes running and lifting weights. His birthday is September 22 (take him some presents!),

Carrie: What did you do in Los Angeles?
JD: I grew up.

JD has trekked from LA to Texas to Georgia and back doing construction work. Did I mention JD's smile?

Steven Robert Blair at Lake Austin Blvd and Mopac

Steven Robert Blair

I am so bummed about the sound quality on this clip -- the loudest thing is nerdy laugh and guffaw coming from behind the camera. The beginning of the video starts with him recounting a story that begins with him playing drums on pots and pans in Venice beach... and ends with something that rhymes with "blingo rawwwr."

"You know what, you're damn good!" -Ringo Starr to Steven

Interesting fact: Hasn't had a drink of alcohol in in 7 years.

You can find Steven at Lake Austin Blvd. and Mopac.

Other locations are Lake Austin Blvd and Mopac, I35 and Woodland, I35 and Oltorf, 183 and Ohlen,  and 183 and Lamar

There are 400 full albums (in clear casing) floating around Austin right now, so be sure to pick one up and help someone who might need it :)

Also, I apologize for the video quality -- for some reason, I have different upload options (that get progressively crummier) with every video I add. The next one may or may not be a blurry gray blob.

Meet Charles Stone! - 11th and I35

This is Charles Stone - Louisiana transplant, and quite the story teller. Charles can tell you awesome stories about his former jobs and adventures (a sampling below) and some words of wisdom. The traffic noise is a little loud, but Charles's stories are worth the struggle.

From: Galveston after Hurricane Ike, Lafeyette before that.

Quotent Quotables, Alex: "If you're alive, you'll survive!" -his father

Has worked with railroad ties, and at Well's convenience store

Likes to play marbles, imperial cars, knows someone in real life with 28 kids, has special church clothes, son works at Abilene Christian University and has 3 DEGREES!

Get this guy some shoes! Apparently there is a shortage of footwear and socks, so I'm betting a pair of socks or shoes would get you a CD from Charles.  You can find him on 11th and I 35!

Other locations are Lake Austin Blvd and Mopac, I35 and Woodland, I35 and Oltorf, 183 and Ohlen,  and 183 and Lamar

Lake Austin Blvd. and Mopac - Get your CD from Steven

Hi y'all!

I'll be doing an interview post soon with Steven, who hangs out at Lake Austin Blvd. and Mopac, and if you want a CD, please go buy it from Steven. Apparently people haven't wanted to buy them because they think he stole them. :( This guy is amazing, plus he is Ringo Starr's favorite drummer! More on that later. :)

Meet Now!

As we mentioned, we're passing out our debut album, Magic Militia, to people across Austin for them to sell, and this blog is here to give you a chance to get to know them: our own Magic Militia.

One of the most enthusiastic people we hung out with on Sunday, when we passed out about 70 of our CDs, was ex-veteran Now. Now loves the camera. When we walked up to him initially,  he thought we were nothing but trouble, but after a few minutes, we were all pretty friendly. We took about 20 minutes worth of video, and could have stayed there longer talking to him. Check out some of our interview below, and a few facts here:

Name: Now
Age: in his own words, "older than dirt"...err, umm...I mean 29
Interests: Philosophy
Came to Austin: 1996
Favorite Music: Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Blues Image,
Some of his tattoos: panther, Native American Princess, Zapatia, Viking woman, a colorful snake, "my chica," and a few more in, questionable places.
Dislikes: The movies Carrie and The Exorcist.
Other: He said he wanted to tell the world about Forty Days for Life, an organization that he is actively involved with. He quoted Snagglepuss in our interview..."Put em up, put em up, stage right, stage left!"

His name is verrrryy conducive to puns, so....Bye, NOW! (Who lovingly told us to get the hell out of his life :))

Stop by and see him around I-35 and Woodland, say shellooo, and pick up a Magic Militia CD. As a reminder, Now keeps any money that you give him for the CDs!

Currently, CD's are also at 12th and 35, Lake Austin Blvd. and Mopac, and Oltorf and 35. More locations and interviews to follow!
